Melanie – Owner, Certified Massage Therapist
Scents of Serenity Organic Spa owner, Melanie Mueller, was born in Germany and brought with her a deep sense of organic and natural living. At a young age she was exposed to different forms of natural healing. Her holistic roots are what inspired her in early 2010 to open Central Virginia’s only Organic Spa. Founded on European ideals and principles, Scents of Serenity features Eminence Organics Skincare of Hungary, the world’s #1 Organic Skincare Line.
Melanie feels passionately about offering only the purest products available. She has specifically chosen each line offered in the spa for their quality and therapeutic benefits. Not only are they the purest grade available on the market today, they also provide a multitude of health benefits. In addition, Melanie feels passionately about supporting other small businesses and working with local artisans. Melanie began her career as a Certified Massage Therapist in 2007, graduating from American Institute of Massage. Working as a Massage Therapist she began to envision an organic spa complete with the best products on the market as well as the best staff in the industry. Working hard to realize that vision, she opened Scents of Serenity Organic Spa, a truly unique place unlike any other spa around. Collaborating together with a dear childhood friend, they created an environment where sense of calm and balance starts as soon as you walk in the door!
Patricia – Master Esthetician/Wax Technician
A 25 year expert, born and educated in Germany, Patricia is truly a master at her craft. Having many years of experience in the medical spa industry, she specializes in acne treatments, acne scarring, sensitive skin and anti-aging. Patricia’s knowledge of all skin types is unparalleled, and she feels strongly about educating each person on their skin and how to take the best care of it. It is her goal to help clients with various skincare concerns by customizing each treatment, tailoring it to meet their individual needs. Patricia believes in being honest and realistic about the outcomes of treatments for various skin types. She has a unique gift of connecting with each client while bringing out their true natural beauty.
Margaret – Master Esthetician/Wax Technician
Margaret has been in the spa and salon industry for over 26 years specializing in waxing and skincare. As a Master Esthetician, there is no skin type or skin ailment that Margaret hasn’t worked on. Having her Instructor Permit in Esthetics, she is a natural teacher and believes in not only giving the best service but educating each client on how to get the best results through proper skincare and customized facial treatments. Margaret has a big personality and when you meet her you definitely will not forget her!
Jill – Master Esthetician/Wax Technician
Jill has loved all things beauty since she was a little girl. A typical sleepover involved homemade avocado and oatmeal masks to put on friends faces. As she grew up she carried her love for beauty and fashion with her as she studied fashion marketing at the Art Institute of Philadelphia. After having a bout of hormonal breakouts that she could not seem to break, she decided to do some extensive research to find a more natural cure and found herself in Esthetics school. It was love at first facial! Since then she has been determined to help clients with different skincare issues. Jill understands that not all skin is created equal; therefore each facial should be customized to fit the clients skincare needs. She believes in educating each client and providing them with a tailored skincare regimen to meet their goals. She truly enjoys seeing the progress in her client’s skin as blemishes start to dwindle and skin begins to brighten.
Shana – Certified Massage Therapist
Shana graduated from American Institute of Massage and brings with her a genuine desire to help clients become aware of their muscular tension and its effect on their body. Shana believes that our body is our most precious possession, our physical vehicle through life’s journey therefore we must take care of, love, honor and cherish it. Shana intuitively works to create a massage custom to fit each individual. She is skilled in deep tissue to release stubborn knots. In addition, she often incorporates assisted stretching to unwind tight muscles and joints. Shana also offers gentle and relaxing Swedish massage as well as prenatal and hot stone massage. Shana has worked as a Massage Therapist in many of Virginia landmarks such as The Tides Inn as well as The Jefferson Hotel.
Lara – Certified Massage Therapist
Lara has had a lifelong passion for holistic wellness and believes if we consider our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being as one inter-connected system, we can understand and care for our bodies better. Lara’s desire to seek alternatives to conventional medicine and her strong belief in the healing power of touch, led her to a career in massage therapy. Her compassion for and desire to understand clients’ needs, assists her in creating a customized massage experience for each and every client. Specializing in hot stone, pregnancy, aromatherapy, deep tissue, and Swedish massage, each session is personalized to the individual needs of the client. Lara enjoys working with pregnant women and will be training to teach infant massage to parents this summer. “Babies make me melt, it’s only natural that I learn to teach infant massage!” In addition, Lara’s passion for aromatherapy and the therapeutic benefits of essential oils adds to her abilities when creating the perfect environment for physical and emotional healing during each aromatherapy session.
Ivette – Certified Massage Therapist
Ivette began her wellness journey by obtaining her Bachelors of Science in Nutrition. Her nutritional background coupled with her interest in the human body is what led her to massage therapy. Ivette is a graduate of the Virginia School of Massage and brings with her over 7 years of massage experience. Certified in Prenatal Massage, she enjoys working with Moms-to-be and has a unique way of calming them before the massage has even begun. In addition, Ivette is certified in Hot Stone Massage. She also enjoys working with clients to target their areas of concern through focused massage therapy as well as Deep Tissue work and believes that massage is not only for relaxation but healing.
